Label Printer is Manufacturer of the Month

Local label printer is selected as the October Make it in Maryland MEP Manufacturer of the Month.

Maryland MEP (MD MEP) is a non-profit committed to growing and strengthening Maryland manufacturing. MD MEP announced Hub Labels as the October 2015 Make it in Maryland program’s Manufacturer of the Month.

Hub Labels was founded in 1978 by Bud and Mary Dahbura. For over 35 years, Hub Labels has served customers with custom pressure sensitive labels. Moreover, the local label printer has expanded their capabilities to include linerless labels. In addition, non-profits leverage address form labels made by Hub Labels to increase donorship.

The Make it in Maryland program is the only program dedicated to manufacturers to showcase Maryland manufacturers. MD MEP demonstrates the value of manufacturing within Maryland and highlights manufacturing successes.

Hub Labels has a large array of print capabilities. As a result, the label printer serves a variety of markets. For example, Hub produces labels for food, beverage, household products, health and beauty. In addition, Hub serves various non-profits through their direct mail premium sticker sheets.

The fleet of presses at Hub Labels includes a Heidelburg-Gallus digital press with incredible 1200 dpi resolution. The hybrid press is ideal for short-run label jobs. The press has variable data capabilities. Also, the digital press has a flexo station for label embellishments such as cold foil.

Hub Labels has a variety of label finishing options. This includes labels on a roll, sheeted labels, fan folded labels, continuous laser form labels, and much more. Label wind direction for roll labels should be specified when ordering.

Innovation in Packaging

Hub Labels is dedicated to meet customer’s strategic goals by providing creative, innovative and sustainable label options. Labels produced at Hub are found in 70% of mid-Atlantic households.

Product development partners with material suppliers to stretch print capabilities and explore the possibilities. Current projects include development of a “no label” clear label look. Clear labels are ideal for health, beauty and beverage industries.  Secondly, product banding or a slide-able sleeves, is being tested on vacuum-sealed food packs.

In addition to the specialized products it provides, Hub Labels is very involved with the local community. From the top down, the organization values the local community with nonprofit sponsorships, monthly community events and employee involvement in programs such as Big Brothers Big Sisters and Adopt-A-Highway. Additionally, Hub Labels was awarded the 2014 Going Green Business Award and the 2013 Maryland Green Registry Award for outstanding contributions to environmentally responsible and sustainable business practices.
