Cover Story on Linerless Labels as featured in Packaging Digest April 2011

The award was received by Thomas Dahbura, Hub Labels’ Vice President of Operations, for client IPACC’s branded personal care product labels. The award is highlighted in Package Printing Magazine’s October 1, 2009 issue and was awarded due to the added difficulty of printing four different images with varied color on the same label.

“To win the first place award in the premier label showcase event’s most difficult category shows that Hub Labels is certainly one of the top-tier label companies in the world and that our commitment to excellent has been recognized by our peers,” said Dahbura.

The winning labels were printed at Hub Label’s Hagerstown, Maryland plant on a Gallus narrow web RCS 330 servo-driven press using four-color process U.V. inks from Flint Ink, Dupont Cyrel 150-line screen plates, Harper anilox rolls, a Rotometrics magnetic die, on Fasson 2.6 mil white BOPP material.

The company received the “Going Green” Award, which is given to a company that has integrated specific “Green” initiatives into its products or service offerings and/or operating practices and procedures.

The event was co-hosted by the Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce and the Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission.
Hub Labels beat out two other finalists and over 100 nominees in six categories to take home the honor for its recently-launched family of Ravenwood linerless labels, which are labels that do not incorporate a liner (or backing material), designed for high-volume manufacturing applications such as bottles, meat and poultry trays, cases, and so on. The use of linerless labels eliminates the environmental waste that thousands of tons of liner create when they are disposed of.
